E-mail in the Classroom

Page history last edited by hollydoe@... 2 yrs ago

How can e-mail be used in the classroom? Feel free to add links to actual online examples.

Teachers can use e-mail in the classroom to communicate to parents and students. It can be used to send newsletters and homework assignments and studyguides.

In the foreign language classroom, we can use e-mail to have student practice the target language. Teachers can send feedback to individual students. I have my students write me e-cards from German sites (i.e. Birthday cards, Valentine's etc.). we then take a look at the most interesting examples in the classroom on the LCD projector. Claudia

There is a multitude of innovative and exciting ideas available to explore using e-mail in the classroom. E-mailing encourages writing skills and aids students in developing relationships at a multicultural level. Students can be assigned telementors who are experienced people who serve as guides or coaches to students. Hewlett Packard has a great mentor program. Students can use epals which is a collaboration of classrroms all over the world exchanging projects and sharing new ideas. Students might write to congress and the senate. Teachers might want to be sure to have students learn internet etiquette which is called "netiquette". http://www.mailcity.com http://www.hotmail.com

Here are a few websites that offer free email accounts for students:

Epals.com
